Texas has taken delivery of a CAT
4 Hurricane Air/Light/Power trailer.
Leanderl's Hurricane is powered by
a 44 HP four-cylinder liquid cooled
diesel engine and a 20 KVA alternator,
supplying over 17,000 watts of sustained
power.
Breathing
air systems feature a 10.5 cfm high-pressure
compressor, six 6000 psi DOT cylinders,
and a two-position Class 2 containment
system.
The engine and alternator are completely
enclosed in a sound-attenuating enclosure
seen at the rear of this view.
The
dual-power source air compressor can
also be powered at the station by
a 230V landline for quiet operation.
Four 900 watt Magnafire 3000 halogen
light poles with telescopic remote-control
heads and one Wilburt PowerLight 3600
watt tower provide scene lighting.
Power outlets are distributed in functional
locations around the trailer for supplying
on-scene power, as well as via two
150' cable reels with both 110V and
220V outlets in a Circle D box.

New Jersey has taken delivery of a
CAT 4 Hurricane Rehab with an optional
front sound-proofed and air conditioned
rehab compartment with plenty of interior
light and power for refrigerators,
computers, or other power-requiring
items. Bench seating is provided sufficient
for about five fire fighters.
The
Pennsville unit CAT 4 air system features
an optional Scott RevolvAir fill station,
and the air compartment is completely
separated from the rehab compartment
by an insulated wall. The Hypres compressor
provides 10.5 cfm of air at 6,000
psi. Storage is in six DOT cylinders.
The
20 KVA diesel generator provides not
only electrical power for the dual-power-source
high pressure compressor, but leaves
plenty of excess power for a PowerLite
3600 watt light tower as well as four
900 watt Havis Shield telescopic light
poles for total scene lighting of
a whopping 7,200 watts.
On
the driver's side is an extendable
awning that provides shade for an
additional rehab area.

unique Hurricane has a cascade system
but no air compressor. It features
a 3,600 watt Nightscan Chief, and

it is equipped with two 150' electric
power reels and two compressed air
reels.
